Facilities Initiatives

Finding and financing school buildings is one of the biggest operational impediments to the growth and success of public charter schools. The National Alliance for Public Charter Schools established its Facilities Initiatives to address these challenges: the lack of access to affordable school facilities, and the lack of state funding and other capital to support the purchase of and/or improvements to charter school facilities.
The goals of the National Alliance’s Facilities Initiatives are:
- To improve access to available public buildings and other assets;
- To improve state-based support for facilities funding to a level more comparable to traditional public schools;
- To improve capital market support for charter school facilities; and
- To strengthen federal incentives for public and private investment in charter school facilities.
This webpage is designed to be a resource for solving facilities challenges charter schools face.
