As educators across the country work to improve educational opportunities and results for Black students, they have an emerging tool at their disposal: public charter schools. In numerous communities throughout the nation, these innovative, tuition-free public schools û which provide administrative flexibility to a school's staff and a rich learning environment with high expectations for its students û are making notable strides in advancing Black student achievement.
