Changemakers and Champions
As the leading authority on charter schools, we are proud to highlight and give awards to charter school leaders and advocates throughout the country based on their outstanding efforts to advance the work of charter schools. Through our different awards programs, the National Alliance for Public Charter Schools is able to recognize a countless number of deserving individuals and schools each year as a way of thanking them for their hard work for students and families.
The ten charter high school students selected as the second cohort are passionate about ensuring their peers have access to high-quality and free public education. They aspire to become architects of education’s transformation and are committed to making a positive impact in their school community.
During National Charter Schools Week 2023, we celebrated and honored seven exceptional charter school teachers as individuals who are going above and beyond to shape students’ lives for the better. Together, they are representative of the educator who thrives in public charter schools.
Every year, the National Alliance for Public Charter Schools recognizes several local, state, and federal officials as champions in the fight for Charter Schools. In 2022, 16 officials were recognized for their efforts and we are proud to have such individuals stand by us in the fight for education.
All too often in education policy, the voices of students—the next generation of leaders—are drowned out by special interests. The 10 charter high school students selected as the inaugural class of Rising Leaders who want to improve education policy that directly affects them and their classmates.
During the 2022 National Charter Schools Week celebration, we recognized 10 changemakers who have an outsized impact in their communities, our nation, and the world. Our changemakers include school leaders, teachers, parents, and advocates in the charter school community.
The Charter Schools Lifetime Achievement Award is granted to extraordinary individuals who devote tireless passion in support of charter schools, and dedicate their lives to accomplishing significant results for the charter school movement. This honor is awarded to contributors who have had a lasting and fundamental impact on, not only charter schools, but the education system as a whole.
To celebrate the 30th anniversary of the first-ever charter school law, we honored 30 exceptional young leaders who are connected to charter schools and are using their ideas, talents, and platforms to affect change. The 30 Under 30 Changemaker Awards shined a spotlight on individuals from across the country who are making a meaningful impact in their community and nationwide.
During the pandemic, charter schools went above and beyond to serve their students and their communities during this traumatic time. We recognized 10 unsung heroes that truly went the extra mile to serve their students and communities – and not just students and families who are connected to charter schools.
The Charter School Leadership Awards honor African American charter school leaders and advocates who are spearheading the movement to give parents and students high-quality public school opportunities.
Throughout the past several trying years, schools across the nation have made tremendous efforts to go above and beyond to serve their students and their communities. We are excited to recognize 10 unsung heroes of these times that have truly gone the extra mile to serve their students and communities.
