Jane Schroeder joins the National Alliance for Public Charter Schools as Senior Director of State Advocacy and Support, where she works to improve state policy environments and promote the expansion of high-quality public charter schools nationwide. Prior to this role, Jane served as Chief Policy and Strategy Officer at First Place for Youth, leading policy advocacy and systems change initiatives aimed at closing achievement gaps for youth with experience in foster care and juvenile justice systems. She also spearheaded national expansion efforts to scale an evidence-based model that leveraged housing and social supports to drive education and employment outcomes. Her leadership was instrumental in securing significant public funding to expand services for young adults transitioning out of foster care, including the establishment of new public funding streams in Mississippi for post-secondary education and housing for former foster youth.
Jane is a proud graduate of one of the first charter schools in Massachusetts, which she attended from 4th through 8th grade. She earned her Juris Doctor from the University of Washington School of Law and holds a bachelor’s degree from McGill University in Montréal, Québec. With a career dedicated to advancing policies and programs that close achievement gaps for vulnerable young people, Jane brings a deep personal and professional commitment to educational equity. Based in Los Angeles, Jane lives with her partner and two chihuahuas. In her free time, she enjoys indulging her passion for interior design as an enthusiastic amateur.
