Yueting (Cynthia) Xu is the senior manager of data and research at the National Alliance for Public Charter Schools. Prior to joining the National Alliance, she worked as an ESL (English as a Second Language) instructor and educational consultant in Philadelphia. Her experience as an educator inspired her to dedicate her efforts to increasing educational equity for historically marginalized students and improving the quality of public education.
Cynthia received her master’s degree from the University of Pennsylvania with dual majors in ESL Education and Statistical Measurement and Research. During her undergraduate years at Sun Yat-sen University in Zhuhai, China, she studied economics and English language and literature, served as an academic advisor in the university writing center, and conducted research on educational opportunities for underserved youth.
Cynthia currently lives in Washington, D.C. with her husband Brandon. In her spare time, she enjoys reading, working out, and perfecting her cooking skills.
