This week, the U.S. Department of Education recognized 356 schools as 2024 National Blue Ribbon Schools, 24 of which are public charter schools. The two performance categories are Exemplary High-Performing Schools and Exemplary Achievement Gap-Closing Schools. According to the United States Department of Education, the cohort of 2024 Blue Ribbon schools has leadership that strives for instructional excellence, teachers that utilize effective teaching methods, a commitment to staff development, and a prioritization of data-driven instruction to ensure all students succeed.
“Congratulations to all schools that earned the 2024 Blue Ribbon award – and of course, we are particularly proud of the public charter schools who earned this recognition,” says Starlee Coleman, President and CEO of the National Alliance for Public Charter Schools. “The Blue Ribbon honor celebrates schools that go above and beyond in closing achievement gaps for students or have exemplary proficiency ratings for students. The dual rating system acknowledges that it’s not only proficiency that matters, but it is meeting students where they are and ensuring they grow. We are thrilled that so many students across the country are receiving a high-quality public education, and we congratulate the teachers who do the on-the-ground work.”
