Once again, public charter high schools are disproportionately represented in the 2023 Best U.S. High Schools ranking from U.S. News and World Report. Across the country, charter schools serve less than 7% of high school students but make up more than 20% of the nation’s top high schools.
Each year, U.S. News ranks almost 18,000 public high schools based on student performance, college readiness, and graduation rate. This year, 21 public charter schools were ranked in the top 100, including Signature School in Evansville, Indiana in the #2 spot. Charter schools are making a difference in kids’ lives every day and these rankings are a testament to the incredible work of charter school educators, students, and families.
