It’s fitting to shine a light on great schools with women leaders at the helm. Mayacamas Charter Middle School (MCMS) was founded as a beacon of innovation and educational opportunity by Jolene Yee and Lauren Daley, who battled tirelessly for three years to bring this option to families. It opened its doors this fall in Napa Valley, California with Catherine Adams leading as Head of School. What bonds these three women is a love for their community and a mission to ensure every student’s needs are met.
At MCMS, students are not just seen but truly understood. The school is designed to serve a diverse student population with personalized instruction to meet individual students’ needs, a supportive and inclusive culture, and a focus on social-emotional development. With project-based learning, MCMS teachers act as facilitators, guiding students on their unique paths to success and empowering them to become life-long learners and critical thinkers.
More than just a school, MCMS is a refuge for many students—a place where they are celebrated for their uniqueness and encouraged to reach their full potential. MCMS strives to set a new standard of excellence—one where every student has the opportunity to flourish and succeed.
