The third and final day of the 2018 National Charter Schools Conference (#NCSC18) features Roadtrip Nation co-founder Mike Mariner. A nonprofit and popular PBS series by the same name, the organization is obsessed with the age-old question “what do I do with my life?” For more than a decade, RoadTrip Nation has been developing project-based career exploration programs and engaging multimedia content for students grappling with how they will make their mark on the world.
2017 National Teacher of the Year (NTOY), Sydney Chaffee is familiar with the myriad of questions students ponder after a decade as a secondary teacher. The first charter school teacher to be honored with the prestigious NTOY distinction, Chaffee will speak about the importance of educators instilling bravery in students.
“We are thrilled Mike and Sydney will help us close out another successful National Charter School Conference with uplifting remarks on elevating student voices and inspiring the next generation of change makers.” said Nina Rees, CEO of the National Alliance for Public Charter Schools.
NCSC18 is designed for attendees to leave inspired but also with new connections for mentorship and collaboration, new ways to approach existing challenges at their own campuses, and renewed invigoration for the challenging but incredibly rewarding work of running schools and school systems.
“We believe firmly in the ability of public charter schools to lead each and every student to unprecedented levels of academic achievement that sets them up for success throughout life,” said Rees. “I am in awe of the degree of innovation our sector has seen over the past 25 years and continues to see in action today. I look forward to doing all over again at #NCSC19 in Las Vegas.”
The 2019 National Charter Schools Conference will be held in Las Vegas, Nevada, June 30th-July 3rd.
