National Alliance Congratulates 2018 U.S. Department of Education Charter Management Organization Grant Recipients

WASHINGTON, D.C. –The U.S. Department of Education’s Office of Innovation and Improvement has published the names of the recipients of about $100.2 million in Charter Schools Program (CSP) Grants to Charter Management Organizations (CMOs) for the Replication and Expansion of High-Quality Charter Schools competition.

CSP grants to CMOs enable high-quality public charter schools to replicate and expand; increase the enrollment of existing charter schools and create new charter schools that are based on a high-quality charter school model.

“We are excited to congratulate the CMO winners of this year’s CSP grant competition as they work to expand high-performing and high-quality public charter schools,” said Nina Rees, President and CEO of the National Alliance for Public Charter Schools. “These grants are critical for charter school networks that are providing thousands of students with excellent public educational opportunities.”

Currently, more than 7,000 public charter schools serve nearly 3.2 million public school students across 43 states, the District of Columbia, Guam, and Puerto Rico – and a growing number of families are demanding more.
