The National Alliance for Public Charter Schools welcomes Will Burns as Executive Vice President for National Advocacy and Director of the Charter Schools Action Fund. Burns will oversee the National Alliance’s federal and legal teams and lead the Charter Schools Action Fund, a 501c4 dedicated to raising public support for charter schools.
Burns brings more than 20 years of experience in the public and private sectors, serving most recently as Head of Government Partnerships, U.S. East for Spin, and as a Senior Advisor and Public Policy Director for Airbnb, Inc. Prior to his work in the private sector, Burns served as a state representative to the Illinois General Assembly and then as an alderman on the Chicago City Council. In both positions, education was a central area of focus.
“Will’s background in the public and private sector along with his steadfast commitment to education as a key lever to eradicate poverty will elevate our work to reimagine public education to better serve all students and families. I am excited to welcome him to the team and look forward to working with him to boost support for charter schools,” said Nina Rees, President and CEO of the National Alliance for Public Charter Schools.
Burns is a Rodel Fellow and serves on the board of the Illinois Network of Charter Schools.
