The National Alliance for Public Charter Schools is a national nonprofit organization committed to advocating for charter school growth throughout the nation and for students and families to have a choice in public education. Through our work, we put families in charge of their children’s education, principals in charge of their schools, teachers in charge of leading their classrooms, and students in charge of their futures.

We Ensure Federal Funding for Charter Schools
The Charter Schools Program (CSP) is the sole source of federal funding devoted entirely to supporting charter schools. Growing the CSP is integral to the success of charter schools and meeting the needs of the millions of students attending or wanting to attend a charter school. We continually advocate for and rally behind increased funding and support to open, replicate, and expand charter schools.
We Fight and Win State-Level Battles
Every year there is legislative activity related to charter schools in state capitals across the country. On a range of issues that includes funding equity, support for facilities, more effective authorizing practices, and equitable funding for charter school students, our movement continues to gain ground. The National Alliance works to continue this momentum with a groundswell of grassroots support.
We Are Strong Legal Advocates
The National Alliance is committed to ensuring local, state, and federal laws allow students, parents, teachers, and communities to access high-quality charter school options. We connect stakeholders in the charter school movement to high-quality legal resources. From the Alliance for Public Charter School Attorneys to the Charter Schools Legal Action Fund to legal consultation from the National Alliance Legal Team, we fight for progress in the charter sector and serve as a line of defense for our schools.
We Convene a Broad Coalition
One of the core tenets of the National Alliance is to assemble a politically and ideologically diverse coalition of advocates, educators, policymakers, families and partner organizations. By building deeper partnerships, we can also expand the range of issues to support, impacting more of the things that are important to charter school families.
We Elevate the Charter Schools Brand
When people know what charter schools are, who they serve, and how they work, they tend to like them. So that’s why we’re making sure everyone knows the truth. We are on a mission to change decades of misunderstanding and disinformation. With effective media outreach and storytelling, we educate the public about these unique public schools, the families who choose them, and the phenomenal educators who are the lifeblood of our movement.
